i love & appreciate when my clients come back to me! it means so much to me. i love getting to know families & watching them grow. i photographed this little peanut when he was about a week old & now he is ONE! i just love neil. he is sooo bubbly & full of personality. he is calm, happy & easy going….i know where he gets it from (those awesome parents of his)! neil, i will never forget how you DEVOURED that cupcake. it was incredible! you are officially the champion & consider that a huge title coming from someone who has has lots of experience watching one year olds eating cake! it was hilarious. you are AWESOME! (high fives).

happy 1st birthday little buddy! i loved taking your pictures. you had my heart from the start – with that pretty smile & those sparkly eyes…you have quite the personality! i liked when you gave me hugs in order to try to get close to my camera…maybe you’ll be a photographer one day! you got to eat a homemade cake, made with love by your mommy just for you! we went to the park (times two) & then went back to your house to play. that was yesterday. today is your real birthday. your momma said the party was FANTASTIC! i bet it was! call me tomorrow to tell me all about it, ok grant!?

there will come a time in your life when you will get very busy…life is full of things that will try to pull you in every direction & spread you as thin as you can go. don’t forget what really matters to you…be happy & fulfilled. take the time for the things that matter. make time for the people you love. try not to get stressed or overwhelmed about the little stuff because it takes away from the big things that matter. life is too short…enjoy it.

recently i read a fortune cookie that said: minutes are worth more than money so spend them wisely. this is true kids so don’t forget it.

i love you more than you know (always…no matter what) & will always be your biggest fans. xoxo.

summer in the city minis

this has been in the works for a while. for those of you who follow me or know me, you know i really don’t ever do mini sessions. it typically doesn’t fit my shooting style to be quick. since i love lifestyle photography, i like to get to know people…i’m so chatty i usually haven’t stopped talking your ear off from the start of your session & we’re already 30 minutes in, so minisessions intimidated me a little in the past. i am 100% no longer feeling that way for so many reasons & truly couldn’t be more excited about this announcement. the location couldn’t be better suited for minisessions. this fresh, modern space has been my favorite find since i discovered it almost two years ago & i have dreamed of using it in this way for quite some time. for a visual of this lovely location i keep referring to, i will take you to a session i loved & still love: speedracer. i receive emails all the time asking about minis so i am happy to be able to share this new development with all of you!

this family is so special to me! they are the nicest, funniest, most hilarious, kind hearted, awesome people you could ever meet. i could go one & on but i know no one has that long to sit here & read my blog post. i met beth when dani was in 5th grade. she has been extremely supportive & kind to me through the years & i am so appreciative. i was lucky enough to photograph christie two years ago when she graduated & not their baby, dani, is graduating! i knew this shoot would be fun but their personalities outdid themselves again & somehow i had even more fun that i had planned on!

dani – congratulations on your new chapter in life! i hope you have a blast at a&m…i know you will!
if there were more andersens in the world, it would be a better place…i think all of you are so unbelievably cool & special! thanks for asking me to do this again!

it’s blog circle time again with some of my favorite photography friends. this time it’s a smaller circle because some of the girls are sitting out a month. after you read my letter to my children make sure to stop by & read the rest of the circle…head over to courtney slazinik with click it up a notch next!

dear miles & garrett,

there is something about writing these letters that gets me all choked up. i don’t know what it is…maybe it’s me thinking about when or how i will present them to you, what will you say or think about them, where will we be in our life…will you be all grown up & out of the house when i give them to you? or will you be just a little bit older than you are now? all i know is that thinking about you being all grown up makes me so sad. i love this moment with you boys & want it to last forever. this month i am writing to both of you because i have written to each of you individually the last two months.

you guys are precious. i adore you. i can’t get enough of you. i love every bit of who you are…and guess what? i always will. garrett you say you want to be a sneak up cowboy when you grow up. but you said the sneak up cowboy is nice & he lives at home, so that’s good garrett you are spunky & hilarious…you are clever & charming.

miles, i wonder what you’ll want to be? we have so much more to learn about you as you get older. you are so loving & sweet. you are precious & so happy.

i love you both so much more than words can express. i always will. i would do anything for you. don’t ever forget that.

i just turned thirty & we went camping to celebrate. just being with you made my day perfect. to be able to slow down, relax, tell stories, play, explore & just be with you all was the BEST. garrett, you said it was the best weekend of your life. that right there was all i had to hear to make it the best birthday ever! i took these pictures on our trip. thank you for loving me.

somehow i don’t think you guys will need this because you will be complete naturals at all of this but here are some suggestions for you two to remember as you grow up.

1. be honest.
2. say you’re sorry (when necessary). and mean it.
3. don’t quit when things are hard. if it is something important to you, (no matter how difficult) you can do it. try harder.
4. think about other peoples feelings. put yourself in their shoes. be kind.
5. be affectionate. make sure everyone that you love & care about knows you feel that way.
6. laugh alot. life is too short to be too serious. understand your infinite worth & the impact you have in this world but remember it’s okay to laugh at yourself too.
7. be you. no one else is as cool as the real YOU. who cares what other people think, just be you.
8. appreciate every day, every minute, every second as much as possible. things can change in the blink of an eye, appreciate what you have.
9. respect. you have to give it in order to receive it.
10. know that i am here for you. i love you NO MATTER WHAT. (your sweet daddy feels the same way i do & would do anything for his family).

loved this lifestyle session! it gave me a glimpse into my future when my boys are older. they had so much fun together and are ALL boy! we started at their house with getting to know each other…they played in their rooms, then played a game of old maid which they play with their parents everyday (so fun!), then we went outside so they could get wild! we took a trip to the park close to their home to take pictures by their mom’s favorite flowers – the bluebonnets! thanks for a great evening wards…loved hanging out with yall!

creativity exercise. perspective

yay! blog circle time again. i love that we don’t have any constricting rules to stick to when carrying out this “perspective” challenge. at first i wanted to create my own rules for myself but then i decided to just do whatever. i was going to use every single one of my lenses to show different perspective that way but i knew i needed to be fast since little guy was in the sink, so i just took as many angles as i could in about two minutes. then i thought i would take my pictures from the “perspective” of each family member including the dogs. then i remembered i was taking my challenge pictures like 5 minutes before i needed to post them so i shouldn’t get too fancy

with garrett, his time was a little more special. he’s been asking me alot how much i love him & when he does something naughty he will ask if i still love him. i wanted to put an important message on his hand & give him a little loving by himself while miles awas napping…pictures were a good excuse for this. i made him guess what it said & then told him. the only rules i gave myself were that my kids had to stay in the same general area for all the pictures. i totally shouldn’t be posting these on my business page…i didn’t really have time to edit any of them so they’re pretty raw & simple.

this was so much fun! i haven’t been shooting personal pictures lately so i’m really glad to have done this.
